Number of houses in Belgium 2005-2017, by region

This statistic shows the total number of houses in Flanders, Wallonia and the Brussels Capital Region (Belgium) in 2005 and 2017. Between 2005 and 2017, approximately 209,000 houses were newly constructed in the country of Belgium. In all three regions, houses are losing terrain to the construction of apartments. This is due to two developments: the size decrease of households and the increasing residential property prices. Consequently, the total number of building permits increased as well.
