Familiarity in Luxembourg with cryptocurrency in 2018
This statistic shows the answers to a survey question about the familiarity with cryptocurrencies in Luxembourg as of February 2018. Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and initial coin offerings (ICOs) reached the news quite often in 2017. In early 2018, 23 percent of the respondents indicated they had never heard of this topic before. Bitcoin is a so-called cryptocurrency, a digital currency that uses blockchain technology as a means of security. Because of its design, however, it is difficult to get an insight in the full size of the Bitcoin market in individual countries. In the first three quarters of 2017, there were approximately 44,000 trading transactions in Bitcoin in the Netherlands.
