Reasons for choosing glasses over contacts in Japan 2021
The leading reason why Japanese adults preferred eyeglasses over contact lenses was that their eyes rejected the contacts. As revealed in a survey conducted in December 2021, over 47 percent of respondents stated that the resistance they felt when putting in contact lenses was a reason they preferred eyeglasses. Overall, comfort and the ease of use were commonly named reasons for avoiding the use of contacts.
