This statistic illustrates the distribution of journeys made by motorized transport outside of urban areas in Italy in 2015 and 2016, broken down by means of transport. According to the data, the majority of extra-urban journeys were made by car (about 85 percent in 2016), while the share of journeys made by public transport rose from about 11.4 percent in 2015 to 12.8 percent in 2016.
