Rate of assisted reproduction treatments in Italy 2005-2020

Between 2005 and 2019, the rate of assisted reproduction treatments (ART) undertaken in Italy increased constantly. As a matter of fact, in 2005, almost 2.7 thousand out of one million women in child-bearing age resorted to such treatments. By 2019, this figure reached roughly 7.7 thousand. However, in 2020 this figure decreased for the first time amounting to 6,525 ART per one million women.
Child-bearing age is here defined as women aged 15 to 45 years.
