This statistic displays the result of a survey on the occasion for leisure tourists to travel to Norway in 2016, by nationality. That year, going on holiday was the most common occasion for all leisure travelers to visit Norway. 77 percent of domestic travelers went on holiday, while 17 percent visited friends or family. Out of the surveyed Germans, 96 percent traveled to Norway for holiday, while less than five percent visited friends or family. The total share of foreign holidaymakers being on holiday in Norway was 86 percent.
