Fatalities due to flu pandemics in the U.S. This statistic shows the estimated number of people who died in the United States during influenza pandemics. During the Spanish flu from 1918 to 1919 around 675,000 people in the U.S. were estimated to have died. More recently, around 12,469 people died from the swine flu or H1N1 pandemic in 2009.
