In the Danish health sector, the number of employed dentists decreased in recent years. In 2018, there were approximately 4.2 thousand dentists employed in the healthcare sector. As of February 2021, the largest share had a monthly income of between 64 thousand to almost 90 thousand Danish kroner. Around seven percent of dentists had a monthly income of even 90 thousand and more Danish kroner, while the same share of Danish dentists earned between 20 thousand and approximately 22 thousand Danish kroner per month.

In Sweden, the number of dentists employed in the healthcare sector increased during the past years. In 2017, approximately 8.2 thousand dentists worked in the Swedish health sector. In 2019, the average monthly salary of dentists was 49.3 thousand Swedish kronor. For female dentists it amounted to 48.6 thousand Swedish kronor on average. This was around two thousand Swedish kronor less than the average amount that male dentists earned.
