Share of households sorting waste in Italy 2012-2018, by type

This statistic shows the result of a survey on the share of households sorting waste in Italy in 2012, 2017 and 2018. Overall, waste sorting became more common among Italian households in recent years than it was in 2012. More specifically, there was a great increase in the share of families separating plastic packaging from the rest o the waste. The only exception to the positive trend was represented by end-of-life batteries, as the share of families sorting them from other waste decreased from 57.7 to 45.6 percent.
