Types of fraud that companies were a victim of through cyber-attacks in Sweden 2018
Disruption of business processes was the most common cyber-attack among Swedish companies in 2018. Over 60 companies were interviewed that year and 33 percent of them were victims of this type of cyber-crime. 23 percent experienced extortion and 16 percent experienced asset misappropriation. The most important cyber security topic among Swedish organizations was cloud security, according to over one third of the decision makers who participated in a survey the same year. Other key topics were cyber security strategy and data security and data privacy.
How concerned are Swedes?
In general, the users of online services in Sweden were fairly concerned about frauds in 2018. Over one third of the interviewed Swedes reported to be concerned, but only with online services that did not require strong identification. Over ten percent said they felt secure when using online services that year.
Most common threats
As of 2017, the most common IT-security threat in the country was malicious codes. Second and third came, viruses and phishing. There were over 200 thousand reported computer and internet frauds in Sweden in 2017.
