Global natural gas liquefaction capacity 2010-2022
Global gas liquefaction capacity reached 478.4 million metric tons in 2022. Since 2010, LNG production capacities have increased by some 40 percent. In the same time period, the global LNG trade volume also saw significant growth, reaching over 540 billion cubic meters in 2022. Transporting natural gas in its liquefied form is used when consumer markets are too far removed from production sites and where pipeline access is unavailable.
