Opinions on abolishing the non-binding referendum in the Netherlands 2017
Between 2015 and 2018, the Netherlands experimented with consultative (non-binding) referendums. Two referendums were held about the European Union association agreement with Ukraine (2016) and the Intelligence and Security Services Act (2018), which both resulted in a 'no'. In 2018, the new Rutte III government abolished non-binding referendums in the Netherlands again.
