In 2018, video streaming giant Netflix reportedly released one thousand original content titles, a dramatic increase from the 300 produced a year earlier. Netflix has been ramping up its content spend for several years and will likely continue to do so in a bid to hold on to its position as U.S. market leader as fresh competition looms. Not only will The Walt Disney Company launch its own service, Disney+, but AT&T, Apple, and CBS to name but a few will also release rival streaming platforms.
