In 2019, UniCredit was the leading banking group in Italy in terms of net equity. In fact, the Italian bank with headquarters in Milan reported a net equity of nearly 62 billion euros. Intesa Sanpaolo, second in the ranking presented in the graph, recorded a net equity amounting to approximately 56 billion euros. Far behind in third place was Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the major Italian promotional institution for economic development through long-term investments at local, regional and national level, with a net equity of just below 25 billion euros.
