Share of default loans to households in Portugal 2016-2019

This statistic displays the ratio of loans to households that were overdue and therefore defaulted in Portugal from December 2016 to September 2019, by loan purpose. It can be seen that household loans for consumption and other purposes were the most at risk of defaulting, with 6.8 percent of all consumption loans overdue as of September 2019. Loans for house purchases on the other hand had a default rate of 1.9 percent in September 2019.
