This statistic shows the number of legal abortions performed in Brazil from 2009 to 2017. Figures only include abortions that were authorized according to the following decriminalized causes: if the pregnancy is a result of rape, if performing an abortion is the only way to save the woman's life, or if the fetus suffers from anencephaly. In 2017, the number of legal abortions in Brazil amounted to 1,636, down from 1,680 legal abortions registered in 2016.
