The number of insurance companies in Italy fell between 2020 and 2022. In 2022, most of the insurance companies in Italy were operating in the non-life insurance sector. That year, there were 108 non-life insurance companies in Italy, more than double compared to the number of companies operating in the life insurance sector. Only six companies were operating in the reinsurance sector.
