In 2022, the average level of consumption of benzodiazepines in Italy was equal to 53.7 DDD (daily defined dose) per 1,000 inhabitants per day. This figure, however, varied considerably across regions. According to the data, Liguria was the region with the highest benzodiazepines consumption rate, with 83.5 DDD per 1,000 inhabitants per day.
