In 2019, Kraków saw a record number of tourists, reaching an impressive 14.05 million. The increase in the number of visitors to Kraków is mainly due to the dynamic development of flight connections and improving Poland's road and rail conditions, enhancing the mobility of Polish residents. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the number of tourists in the city dropped to roughly 9.2 million. It is estimated that in 2021, Krakow will visit 11.3 million tourists.
Magic Kraków
Kraków, the former capital of Poland, has a lot to offer. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 8.5 million tourists from Poland and 740 thousand abroad visited this historical city in the south of Poland in 2020. It is worth remembering that the city's attractions are not only the Wawel Castle, Market Square, and Cloth Hall. Kraków has a rich offer of places worth seeing in its surroundings. The Auschwitz camp, Wieliczka Salt Mine, and Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains attract tourists, being at the same time a crucial source of information about the history and culture of Poland. Kraków also provides a rich hotel base, which is developing every year. In 2019, the most significant number of hotels were three-star.
Tourists in Poland
Poland is attractive to tourists from Europe and has also been noticed by tourists from Asia, the Middle East, and the USA. The improving quality of infrastructure - roads, hotels, and customer services - attract an increasing number of visitors. Among foreign tourists, citizens of Germany, Ukraine, and Belarus came to Poland most often. Germans spent over five billion zloty in Poland, and the average length of stay of incoming tourists was 6.2 nights in 2019.
