The number of travel shops operated by retail travel agents in the United Kingdom declined by nearly 18 percent in June 2023 compared to March 2019. Overall, there were 3,481 retail travel agent stores operating in the UK as of June 2023. That month, travel agencies belonging to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) - which includes brands such as TUI and Hays Travel - accounted for the highest number of travel shops.
