Turkey: outbound overnight stays by accommodation 2022

The number of overnight stays by Turkish citizens traveling abroad increased in 2022 over the previous years, after dropping sharply in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, houses of friends or relatives were the most popular travel accommodation for outbound trips over the period considered. In 2022, nights spent at houses of friends or relatives totaled 26.4 million, reaching pre-pandemic levels again. Meanwhile, outbound Turkish travelers spent around 19 million nights in hotels and similar accommodation establishments in 2022.
