In financial year 2022, the share of coal in major imports into India amounted to 5.2 percent. By the financial year 2023, the share of coal in major imports was estimated at eight percent. However, according to the Central Electricity Authority of India, about 50 percent of the country's power supply will be generated by renewable energy sources by the year 2030.
