Volunteering participation in support of sport England 2019 by age group

This statistic shows the results of a survey on the share of people who volunteered to support sport and physical activity in England in 2019, by age group. The survey was conducted online and the latest update on it was conducted for the time period between May 2019 and November 2019 with a total of 66,196 respondents. The data collected resulted in the conclusion that as of November 2019 approximately 16 percent of the respondents between the age of 45 and 54 participated in volunteering to support sport and physical activities in England. The volunteering questions were revised at the start of year 5 (from Mid-November 2019) to provide more detailed data on the frequency, duration and longevity of volunteering activity. As such, we are unable to report a combined 12-month figure at this release. The data tables linked to the May 19 – May 20 report represent data collected using the previous version of the volunteering questions (i.e. data captured during May-Nov 19).
