In the third quarter 2019, the commercial property price index value in the United States reached 190.4. The index value was 100 in 2010. Commercial property prices have been trending upwards since 2014, with the exception of a slight dip at the first half of 2016.

Who uses commercial property?

Commercial property is vital for all sectors of the economy, and includes property units used for retail, hospitality, warehousing, factories, offices, lodging and amusement. In 2019, the industries which leased the largest volume of space in the U.S. were coworking, technology, finance and insurance, and health. This shows the importance of the commercial property sector to a wide array of business areas.

How much is invested in new commercial properties?

The value of commercial construction has been on the rise since 2010 in the United States. This trend mirrors the recovery seen across all economic sectors after the 2007-2009 recession. However, the investment in commercial property varies by type, with private office space, warehouses, and hotels/motels leading the pack.
