Share of people reading newspapers daily in the Netherlands 2013-2021
Newspaper readership, be it physically or digitally, stabilized in the Netherlands since 2017 after a steady decline in previous years. This according to annual survey results which asked consumers whether they read news each day (or close to every day) or not. In 2013, over 65 percent of survey participants indicated that they read either paper or digital newspapers daily or almost daily, whereas by 2020 this figure had decreased to 42 percent. As of 2021, the percentage of daily newspaper readers rose back to 47 percent.
