Brazil: deforested area in the Amazon 2017-2019, by land type

In June 2019, deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon continued as 801 square kilometers of rainforest were reported to have been destroyed only in that month. Most of the deforested area in the Brazilian Amazon occurred in private land areas, while 13 percent of the total deforested area of tropical forest occurred in conservation units. Except from October 2018, private lands or lands under different stages of possession made up for the highest share of deforestation throughout the presented period.
