In 2020, a total of 8,469 people registered as HIV-positive in Mexico had contracted the virus through sexual transmission. The majority of those individuals were aged 30 to 34, a total of 2,143 people. In recent years, sexual transmission was the category that concentrated most of HIV-positive cases in the Latin American country.
