Bank account ownership rate India 2011-2017

In 2017, about 80 percent Indians surveyed owned bank accounts. This was a significant change from only 35 percent in 2011. This growth was primarily due to the financial inclusion of marginalized groups within the country - from women, to the out-of-labor force, less educated and the poor.
