Brazil: leading banks 2019, by credit cards
Itaú Unibanco was the Brazilian bank with the highest number of active credit cards in 2019. That year, the financial institution registered approximately 34.5 million credit cards used during the last three months. It was followed by Banco do Brasil, with more than 24 million active credit cards. Caixa Econômica Federal was ranked third based on the number of active credit cards, but it placed first as Brazil's top bank in terms of its personal loan portfolio at this point in time.
