Share of M&A deal value worldwide 1991-2019, by region This statistic illustrates the share of the value of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals from 1991 to March 2019, by region. According to data provided by the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (IMAA) in 1991, 47 percent of the value of M&A deals came from North America, by 2018's forecasts this had fluctuated to 45 percent. North America saw its largest share of 64 percent during both 1994 and 1998.
What can also be seen is the large increase in M&A deal value from Asia Pacific enterprises. The region has increased its share of M&A deal value from under ten percent in 1991 to approximately 25 percent as of 2018.
