In 2020, the highest share of global merger and acquisition (M&A) deals took place in the software industry. In 2000, 14.1 percent of M&A deals took place in the software industry, by 2020 this had decreased to 6.2 percent.Software remained as the most proactive sector despite almost halving in terms of total share of deal volume.
