Estimated and actual perception of prison occupancy level in Italy 2018
This statistic presents the result of a survey on the public perception of the occupancy level of prisons in Italy as of 2018. According to data published by Ipsos, respondents estimated that the occupancy level of Italian prisons was 56 percent higher than the maximum occupancy level, while in reality Italian prisons were 16 percent more crowded than their theoretical capacity.
