Perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in Belgium in 2018*
Perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in Belgium 2018
The statistic displays the results of a survey question conducted by Ipsos, concerning perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in Belgium in 2018.
The survey results show that in 2015, the majority of violent deaths in Belgium did not involve the use of a firearm or a sharp object such as a knife. In fact, 45 percent of deaths through interpersonal violence in Belgium in 2015 involved other forms of violence. The survey indicates that perceptions of the most common causes of violent death in Belgium were largely in line with reality, however respondents underestimated the share of people killed by firearms and overestimate the number of deaths involving knives.
