In 2022, approximately 5.49 million people suffered from personal damages or were evacuated related to natural disasters occurring in Indonesia, decreased from about 7.63 million persons in 2021. Despite its high number of natural disasters in Indonesia, the capacity of the Indonesian emergency and rescue services to deal with large natural disasters is still insufficient. It is expected that Indonesia will face more natural disasters in the future due to climate change.
