This statistic shows the share of respondents who gave the following reasons for bribing government officials, even though they were not asked for bribes, in Indonesia as of October 2018. During the period surveyed, 30 percent of respondents who did so stated that their reason for bribing government officials of their own initiative was to expedite the process for the services that they required. In comparison, three percent stated that they did so as they have often heard that it was difficult to get the services required with the particular governmental institution without bribing the officials.
