This statistic shows the results of a survey conducted in Germany on the spread of populism in regards to satisfaction with how democracy was working in the country in 2020. That year, based on the definition of populism in the survey, 39 percent of respondents with populist leanings did not agree with the statement "I'm very satisfied with the functioning of democracy in Germany."

* In this study populism is defined as a certain understanding of politics and democracy, its norms, institutions and processes. A distinguishing feature is the idea of the “true people” on one side and the “corrupt elite” on the other. Additionally, views which are anti-establishment, anti-pluralism and pro sovereignty of the people. According to the authors of the study, all three views are supposed to be represented simultaneously to qualify as populist views. Further definitions are available in the report.
