Distribution of individuals covered by complementary medical insurance in Italy 2016
In 2016, the total number of individuals covered by complementary medical insurance in Italy was slightly over 10.6 million. This statistic shows the distribution of such individuals by category. According to data, employees were more likely to get registered in complementary health programs than self-employed people and retirees. As a matter of fact, in 2016, employees accounted for 62.9 percent of the total number of people who subscribed a complementary medical insurance, whereas self-employed individuals and retirees represented 18 percent and 2.4 percent of it, respectively.
