Perceived discrimination because of ethnicity in selected Nordic countries 2016

This statistic displays the perceived discrimination because of their ethnic or immigrant background of people of African descent in selected Nordic countries from 2015 to 2016. According to the results of the survey, 45 percent of people of African descent in Finland experienced discrimination in the last 12 months before the date of the survey. The corresponding figure for people of African descent in Sweden was 38 percent.

Skin colour; Ethnic origin; Religion or religious beliefs; Age (such as being too old or too young); Sex/gender (such as being a man or a woman); Disability; Sexual orientation (such as being gay, lesbian or bisexual); Something else."

The source adds the following information: "Areas of life asked about in the survey: looking for work, at work, education (self or as parent), health, housing and other public or private services (public administration, restaurant or bar, public transport, shop)."

* The survey was conducted in Finland from November 2, 2015 to August 9, 2016; in Denmark from October 24, 2015 to March 14, 2016; and in Sweden November 2, 2015 to March 30, 2016.

**The sample size in Finland was 502 respondents, in Denmark 1,085 respondents, and in Sweden 1,098 respondents.
