Number of M&A transactions in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals sector 1985-2022
Merger and acquisition activity was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which can also be seen in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals sector. In 2020, there were approximately 15 percent fewer M&A transactions initiated in that sector compared to the previous year. Also, in 2022, there were 1,733 in the biorechnology and pharmaceutical sector worldwide.
