Out-of-pocket expenditure as share of health spending in Paraguay 2010-2020
In 2020, Paraguay's out-of-pocket health payments from households accounted for about 38.4 percent of the total health expenditure in the country, down from around 42 percent reported a year prior. This figure decreased by about 15.5 percentage points compared to 2010, when household out-of-pocket expenditure represented 53.9 percent of the total health spending in the country. As of 2020, households in the South American country spent more than one billion U.S. dollars on health care.
