This statistic presents the total number of deaths due to complications related to any medical treatment* or due to complications during the perioperative period**, in Spain in 2017, by autonomous community. In that year, the Community of Madrid was the autonomous community with the highest number of deaths due to this type of complications, exceeding 70 deaths. The number of deaths in Spain due to this type of complications amounted to 272 deaths in 2017, which represents a significant decrease over previous years.
