Patients on transplant waiting list in Mexico 2023, by organ
In 2023, close to 20,000 patients were on transplant waiting list in Mexico. Kidneys were the organ with the highest number of patients waiting for a transplant in the North American country, with around 16,400 people. Corneas followed, with approximately 3,340 patients. Meanwhile, those waiting for a heart transplant amounted to 24 people, while a total of 40 heart transplants took place in Mexico that year.
