Liver transplants in Brazil 2013-2022
In 2022, the number of liver transplants performed in Brazil amounted to 2,118 interventions, up from the 2,044 liver procedures reported a year earlier. With the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, liver transplants declined in Brazil, interrupting an uptrend observed since 2013, when liver interventions added up to 1,726 procedures. As of 2021, the liver was the organ with the third largest number of waiting patients in the South American country.
