FYROM name change: opinion of ethnic Albanians and Macedonians

This statistic shows the results of a 2018 survey among ethnic Albanians and Macedonians about their support for the name change of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (now North Macedonia). The respondents were asked whether they supported changing their country's name to accelerate accession into the EU and NATO as Greece did not recognize the country's name. While 42 percent of ethnic Macedonians absolutely did not support the name change, 30 percent completely supported it. Among ethnic Albanians, 84 percent expressed their full support, while only four percent did not.
