This statistic shows the time taken to sell first book after signing with an agent among middle grade authors in the United States as of September 2017. The data reveals that the majority of authors writing for a middle grade audience, i.e. those producing books aimed at children aged around eight to 12 years old, sold their first book within two to five months after signing with a literary agent. However, for 3.4 percent of surveyed middle grade authors it took two years or more to secure their first book sale after having pursued assistance from an agent.
