Confederation of European Paper Industries' (CEPI) countries consumed 106 million cubic meters of softwood in 2023. This was considerably more than the amount of hardwood consumed by CEPI countries in 2023. Consumption of softwood, such as pine and spruce, was consistently higher than the consumption of hardwood like oak and beech over the past three decades.
