In 2017, Euro 6 cars made up 18 percent of cars circulating in Milan. Euro 4 was the most popular category, accounting for 28 percent of the total number of automobiles. Furthermore, roughly one in ten cars belonged to the Euro 0 class, and were not subject to any emission standards.

*The European emission standards define emission limits for vehicles. The most stringent one, the Euro 6 standards, were introduced for light vehicles in September 2014.
