Protein source breakdown of Japanese people 2017, by age group
This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in November 2017 about the distribution of protein sources in Japan, broken down by age group. During the surveyed period, meat represented the largest protein source of the Japanese population, closely followed by grain products. According to the survey, respondents in the age group 20 to 29 years covered around 29.7 percent of their protein needs by consuming meat, while dairy products contributed only 5.6 percent to the protein supply.
