Number of malaria cases in Panama 2022

The number of malaria cases in Panama has been growing in recent years. In 2022, the Central American country reported 7,173 malaria cases, nearly twice the figure registered a year prior and reaching the highest number of malaria infections since the beginning of the decade. As of 2021, in the neighboring country of Costa Rica, a total of 189 indigenous cases of the disease were reported.
