The National Arts index thrives to measure the health and vitality of arts in the U.S. It is composed of equal-weighted, national-level indicators of arts and culture activity that covers the period from 1998 to 2011. The scope of the index takes into consideration the different arts sectors like non-profit arts organizations, for-profit arts businesses and puts them into a perspective towards the population, the economy and for example employment.
